MVIL

Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL) is wholly owned by the Government through shareholding held by KCH.  In January 1999, the Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust was re-capitalized as at December 31, 1998.  The successor company is Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd. MVIL is subject to price control by the ICCC under the Prices and Regulations Act.

Portfolio

MVIL was established by the Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance) Act, as amended, to act as the sole compulsory third party insurer of all motor vehicles in Papua New Guinea on January 14, 1998 (following legislative changes introduced by the Government in December 1997).  It also undertakes road safety initiatives and provides motor vehicle registrations and licensing services for all types of motor vehicles. MVIL has 22 branches and 3 sub-branches all over the country.
