Minister Duma welcomes new SOE heads

Thursday 18 October, 2018 – Port Moresby: Minister for Public Enterprises and State Investments, William Duma, has announced the appointments of Alan Milne as Managing Director of Air Niugini and Paul Hyde as Managing Director for Kumul Telikom Holdings following approval by the National Executive Council.

Milne brings a wealth of experience in the aviation industry and is a 36 year veteran of Qantas Airways. He was Head of Operations Performance for the Qantas Group, a senior executive position, until his appointment as Managing Director of Air Niugini.

Milne is a proven Executive Manager and has impeccable credentials having worked for one of the leading airlines in the world, Qantas Airways Ltd.

He Milne holds a Master’s Degree in Business and Technology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, and is a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

“Air Niugini continues to be the premier airline in Papua New Guinea and aims to provide the best air service in the region. Air Niugini also strives to provide safe, reliable, cost effective and profitable air operations while exceeding the expectations of its customers and stake holders, and the appointment of Alan Milne will boost our national flag carrier and effectively bring it to a level that we can all be proud of.” said Minister Duma.

Hyde joins Kumul Telikom Holdings with a good track record of leading and growing communications companies.

He is an accomplished change manager and will work to deliver affordable, reliable communication services across PNG.

Hyde holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Marketing and Finance), a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Business Studies) and Engineering Diploma in Radio Engineering.

Minister Duma further said, “Air Niugini and Kumul Telikom Holdings play an important role in PNG’s airline and telecommunications industry as well as being vital mechanisms to economic growth. Milne and Hyde will contribute significantly to revitalising the two State owned companies so they consequently provide financial returns to their ultimate shareholders, the people of PNG”.

“The appointment of these two qualified and experienced business executives comes at a time when all our State Owned Entities are required to increase productivity, greater efficiency, improved service delivery, and ultimately pay dividends to our shareholders, the people of PNG,” said Minister Duma.
