IPBC WILL UPHOLD AGREEMENT WITH LABU VILLAGERS
MAY 22 2012
The Independent Public Business Corporation said today it fully intends to uphold an agreement to provide a canoe landing
place for Labu villagers affected by the Lae Port Project.
There is an agreement between the project (involving IPBC, the Asian Development Bank and PNG Ports Limited), the Labu
Lead Group and the Morobe Provincial Government, to provide a landing place at Aigris Market.
The agreement involves PNG Ports ferrying Labu people and their goods to and from the market. Canoes and dinghies will
also be able to use the landing place.
IPBC is in talks with PNG Ports and Labu villagers about progress on the agreement.
